Biography

Professor Agnes W. Mwang’ombe is a distinguished Kenyan plant pathologist and academic leader. She holds a BSc in Agriculture (1977) and an MSc in Plant Pathology (1982) from University of Nairobi, and a Diploma from Imperial College London (1988). She formerly served as Principal of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS) at the University of Nairobi from May 2005 to September 2015.  In her career she has made significant contributions to agricultural research, policy and institutional leadership-serving on national boards including the Vision 2030 Delivery Board and the Consortium Board of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) system. Her work is characterised by a strong commitment to strengthening research-institutions and applying plant-pathology expertise toward improving food security and agricultural sustainability in Kenya and across Africa.
