About the AGM
Theme: Positioning Africa’s Universities and the Higher Education Sector to Effectively Impact Development Processes on the Continent

Hosts: Government of Botswana & RUFORUM Member Universities in Botswana
The 21st RUFORUM AGM is a premier continental gathering focused on strengthening Africa’s higher education and agricultural innovation systems. Co-hosted by the Government of Botswana and RUFORUM member universities, this year’s AGM aligns with key continental strategies including the CAADP Kampala Declaration (2026–2035) and Africa Union Agenda 2063.
The AGM will provide a platform for stakeholders across Africa and globally to co-create solutions, share best practices, and forge strategic partnerships for sustainable development. Read More Here

Sub theme 1: Strategic partnerships for growth: Building bridges for the future
Meetings under this sub-theme will explore and leverage collaborations to enhance university capacity for maximizing their contributions to Africa’s and global development agenda.

Sub theme 2: Science for development: Generating contemporary and relevant solutions at scale
Meetings under this sub-theme will explore opportunities for strengthening science and innovation capacities of African Universities.

Sub-theme 3: Capacity sharing to train the next generation
This conference sub-theme will explore how cooperative capacity development approaches might transcend continental disparities in expertise, facilities, and innovation.

- Scaled university-led innovations for agri-food systems
- Strengthened research, teaching, and entrepreneurship capacity
- RUFORUM’s 2024/2025 financial and strategic reports reviewed and adopted
